Teignmouth Harbour Commission are extremely pleased to announce Capt. Rob Parsons as our new Harbour Master/CEO. Rob has been appointed following our panel’s selection process in which his experience of Trust Port operations impressed the interview board with his proven track record, vision of the future of Teignmouth Harbour and collaborative approach to working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
Rob is a long-time resident of the southwest with a career of over 20 years in the Royal Navy prior to a move to Newlyn Harbour as the Harbour Master/CEO for 8 years. Rob’s responsibilities have included the safe running, financial security and strategy for the harbours and more recently Rob has been the Harbour Master and Divisional Director Maritime and Coastal Services for Torbay Council. In all roles held to date Rob has gained experience of working with both the national and local government by way of being a member of the British Ports Association Council and the Vice Chair of Penzance and Newlyn Town Deal Board.
Rob is due to take up his role in Teignmouth in early November 2024 once he has served his notice period with his current employer, although he is already in communication with the harbour team and the chair of the Harbour Commission. The Commissioners would like to extend our warmest thanks to our previous harbour masters and CEOs for their hard work and dedication in keeping Teignmouth harbour afloat. We look forward to a new era for our harbour community with Rob.
