Yes, we highly recommend that you insure your boat and at a minimal to have third party public liability insurance cover of £3M.

We can allocate you a non-maintained mooring within 6 weeks (hopefully sooner) we have to work around the tides to install your mooring.

We are governed by who gives up each year but currently there are 154 people on the list (including moves from existing customers wanting a more desirable mooring),  it could take between 1-3 years to allocate you above Shaldon bridge or between 5-10 years in the popular moorings in the harbour.

We have two pontoons for our visitors, which are extremely popular especially in the Summer months, where boats can raft up.  We may even be able to allocate you a temporary maintained mooring for your stay if one is available.

We would highly recommend that you do, for a small annual cost we hold all your details and provide you with the correct safety advice.

If you are a Visitor you are able to stay on your boat but no more than 2 weeks.

We dredge the channel for safe navigation of vessels.  THC has the power to dredge in accordance with 1924 HRO, we maintain a channel depth of height of tide +1 metre unless otherwise notified by LNTM.

An annual report will be produced in September/October where details will be provided.

PWC’s are allowed to launch from Polly Steps or Gales Hill and proceed straight to sea, consider safe speed (6 knots and minimal wash).  THC’s responsibilities are from the Ness headland to the entrance to Stover Canal. Teignbridge District Council (TDC) are responsible for safety along the seafront and in particular the safe swimming area marked by buoys in the summer.

In the financial year 2021/22 – 149 ships entered the port.
