Full Time Harbour Assistant Apprentice

We are currently recruiting a Harbour Assistant Apprentice. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to complete the Small Commercial Vessel Crewmember Apprenticeship. Apprentices will be working in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the Harbour. Some examples are:

  • Maintaining and operating Harbour vessels.
  • Conducting Harbour patrols.
  • Managing Visitor Pontoons and visiting vessels.
  • Helping to install and maintain moorings.
  • Helping to maintain navigational markers.
  • Conducting flat bedding operations.
  • Engaging with water users and promoting safe use of the Harbour.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who is enthusiastic, able to work as part of a team and on their own. They need to be punctual, able to take instructions and reliable. They must be able to cope with the physical side of the role. They will need good communication skills.

Job Type: Apprenticeship.

Salary: As a minimum this job is paid at the published National Apprenticeship wage for the first year and National Minimum wage thereafter. 

Working Week: Mainly Monday to Friday, 8 to 4, with the requirement to work occasional weekends and a maximum of 40 hours.

Additional Requirements: Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) grade C or 4. Driving license preferred.
