Teignmouth Harbour Commission has two vacancies for Commissioners with the appointments taking effect from 1st January 2025.
The Harbour Commissioners are a non-executive board who are responsible for overseeing the safe running of the port, working within the Port Marine Safety Code and developing new ideas to improve the port while preserving the beauty and history of the Harbour. More information is available on the website www.teignmouthharbour.com.
The Commissioners are unpaid volunteers and, although applicants should have a general knowledge of ports and harbours and the local area, you are by no means expected to be an expert. Applicants with skills in the following areas are especially encouraged:
- Strategic human resources
- Leisure industry management
- Corporate finance
The Commissioners usually meet formally for 2 to 3 hours every 2 months. Most meetings take place during normal business hours and the meetings are usually held at the Harbour Office in Teignmouth Port. In addition to formal meetings, we may ask Commissioners to become involved in specific projects from time to time, which will involve a further time commitment.
Commissioners are appointed for an initial period of 3 years.
